Coorie Doon September Party + Soul Food Sisters
Coorie Doon is a new Glasgow dance party built on the uplifting power of music and the collective joy of the dance floor – capturing the best of a house party experience – whilst being open to all. Inspiration comes from the ethos of David Mancuso’s radical Loft party.
The party will take place on Sat 16 September 2023, 5pm to 1am at Civic House.

With the same amazing loft space, hi-fi sound system and welcoming community we have all the ingredients to let loose and enjoy music to its fullest.
Coorie Doon is a hi-fi dance party with a varied and global music policy, inspired by David Mancuso’s Loft party tradition and the unique dancing spirit of Glasgow. If you’re new to our party, read on to find out more, and check out our website and social media for music, pics and words that delve a little deeper. Also do reach out to us with any questions at all, or if you’d like to be on our mailing list.
We ask you to bring an open mind, body and soul as we have a special celebration as the Autumn Equinox approaches. As before we’ll be delivering a warming embrace of tunes, food, chat and an uplifting space unlike any other in the Glasgow party scene.

The venue
We are delighted to be returning to Civic House first floor Studio for our next party. With its open plan space, wooden floors and vaulted ceiling, the venue is ideal for hosting our Loft-inspired party and delivering excellent room acoustics and house party atmosphere.
The sound
As before, we’re incredibly lucky to be working with two of the most influential people in the world of audiophile dance parties – Iain Mackie and Andrew Pirie. Iain is the Director of Danley Distribution and A-Live Sound, and has installed some of the best sound systems for venues and events around the world including We Out Here Festival. Andrew is a hi-fi expert at Loud and Clear, one of the UK’s leading high-end audio shops, in addition to running the excellent audiophile disco reissue label, Groove Line Records. Perhaps most importantly, Iain and Andrew were close associates of the late David Mancuso and were involved with some of the parties hosted by Mancuso in Glasgow in the early 2000s. For many years they have worked together on the sound for the Lucky Cloud Sound System – ‘the London Loft’.
The music
What might you hear on the night? As broad a spectrum as possible. Dance music can often feel tied down by expectations and we want to promote a freedom to explore its potential in a party environment. Our main priority is to play uplifting music that gives energy and brings people together in both a welcoming and intense celebration. Rhythmic, hypnotic and psychedelic sounds are all essentials whether that’s deep spiritual jazz, ecstatic Gospel, house, disco, reggae, cumbia, psychedelic soul, afrobeat…
If you want a preview of the type of music you might hear you can listen back to the full eight hour recording of our launch party on our Mixcloud.
The food & drink
The doors open early at 5pm with Soul Food Sisters will serving delicious vegetarian food in the downstairs space. Food will be available to buy on the night until 8pm (or it runs out) but if you want to guarantee a plate then we strongly recommend buying a ‘party+food’ ticket. The sample menu for the night is below. A bar will also be run by Civic house.
Ticketing Info
Tickets are £10 for just the party, or £18.50 if you want to add a plate of food. Kids are welcome for free until 8pm (no tickets required!). We are also offering a number of free tickets for those who are unemployed – please email: hello@cooriedoonparty.org for more information.
Accessibility
Unfortunately the first floor at Civic House is not fully accessible at this time.
