Lucy McCormick: Triple Threat
Brick Award Winner 2017

‘It is despicable, decadent and degenerate. It is Sodom and Gomorrah in a pansexual disco. It is sacrilegious and pornographic and very, very funny.’
Scotsman.

Post-popular prodigy Lucy McCormick and her Girl Squad present a trashstep-dubpunk morality play for the modern world. Casting herself in all the main roles, Lucy will attempt to re-connect to her own moral conscience by re-enacting the New Testament via a Nu-wave holy trinity of dance, power ballads and performance art. With trademark absurdism and enthusiasm, Lucy puts her best foot forward in the face of existential deadlock.

McCormick’s frenzied underground club acts have grown without light incontexts including Duckie, Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, Dalston Superstore and The Glory and they are about to spill out of the gutter and hit the roof. In this hour long show Lucy invites you to join her in airing out some festering dirty laundry. Inspired by East London’s queers, queens, squatters and strikers – come to the real royal Variety. Guest Entertainment Direction by cabaret and performance art superstar Ursula Martinez.

The Brick Award returns as our team select a vital piece of performance from the Edinburgh Fringe and give it a new life on the west coast as part of Take Me Somewhere.

Part of STUCK ON YOU, a sticky strand of queer spectacles, at Take Me Somewhere 2017. Programmed by a local gang of displaced queerdos, Stuck on You is a strand of performance, dancing and lovin’ within the festival – confronting continued violence on queer bodies and calling for collective action through fun, pleasure and rage.

STUCK ON YOU is co-produced by Outspoken Arts.

Triple Threat originally commissioned by hÅb and Contact for Works Ahead, with support from Soho Theatre and Marlbourgh and funding from Arts Council England.
