Optimo Hogmanay 2013

For Scottish clubbers, Optimo are synonymous with not just their legendary Sub Club Sundays, but with an eccentricity and their discerning selections, which have gained them international acclaim.

Optimo have grown from a weekly club night to an attitude – a willingness to experiment and really let loose – and their Hogmanay party looks set to be a suitably weird and wonderful blow-out.

True to their ethos of representing live music with a dancefloor mentality, they’re bringing along Glaswegian outfit Golden Teacher for a rare live set.

Having released EPs on Optimo Music to acclaim this year, it’s sure to be a riotous hometown show.

There’s also a DJ set from Awesome Tapes From Africa, the Afrophile blogger whose cassette tape-only sets are made up entirely of personally, regionally sourced African music.

Rounding it all off on the night are, of course, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes themselves. Here’s to another year of the peerless Optimo.
