Optimo Hogmanay 2012

After falling in love with the Glue Factory at our Hogmanay party last year, we immediately decided that we wanted to do it there again this year.

For those who have been before, you will know it is an ideal and unique venue for a big party. For those who haven’t been before, the Glue Factory is exactly what it say it is, an old factory on the fringes of the city centre, well, lower Maryhill / Speirs Locks to be exact. It’s a 15 minutes walk / 5 minute taxi ride from Sauchiehall St or Cowcaddens.

The building is a cavernous industrial warehouse containing a sprawling and diverse collection of spaces. This year we wanted to bring some more local flavour to proceedings.

One of our very favourite acts of recent times are local heroes Auntie Flo so we were delighted when they agreed to join us to perform a live set in the main room. They will also be playing a dj set in the bar area alongside our comrade Hushpuppy.

We will also have a karaoke operating in the toilets. Why? Why not!

As ever we will bring in the full Optimo turbo sound and light production with trademark at-the-bells malarkey as well as space heaters to ensure it is warm when people arrive.

The bar area has been constructed out of the old bar from The Art School’s Vic bar and is a work of art in itself. The bar area is separate from the dance area and offers a more sedate space for socialising while there will be other bars set up around the building with all drinks at reasonable prices.

We are uber excited about this and think it will perhaps be the most special Hogmanay party we have yet thrown!
