Innovating Performance: Split Screen at Civic House
January – February
Civic House, 26 Civic Street, Glasgow, G4 9RH

We are thrilled to be the host venue for Split Screen, a pioneering project exploring the future of the performing arts through digital innovation and AI. Led by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and supported by the Scottish Government’s Ecosystem Fund, this initiative transforms Civic House into a dynamic testbed for creative experimentation.

Throughout the coming months, we’ll be welcoming a powerhouse collective—including Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, Citizens Theatre, and Techscaler—for a series of workshops designed to spark new collaborations. By bringing together artists, tech experts, and creative entrepreneurs, Split Screen aims to redefine how performance is made and shared in a digital age.

From skill-sharing sessions to micro-commissions, we’re proud to provide the space where Glasgow’s creative “supercluster” comes to life. Keep an eye on our calendar as these industry pioneers return to the building to shape the future of the stage.

The Night With … Ensemble Offspring
Tuesday 28th April, 7:30pm
Civic House, 26 Civic Street, Glasgow, G4 9RH

Ensemble Offspring return to The Night With… from Australia after their first Scottish tour with us in 2019 with programme combining music from Scotland and Australia. The programme features the world premiere of Beneath the Surface by Matthew Whiteside, an audio-visual work exploring humanity’s impact on the seabed through footage he has shot scuba diving and edited by his long time collaborator Marisa Zanotti.

Alongside this will be a new work by Australian composer Alice Chance and works drawn from Ensemble Offspring’s award winning Songbirds project where composers respond to the songs of Australian birds.

Events Recap:

Celebrating Wevolution

The beginning of the year saw Civic House host a poignant final gathering for WEvolution. After 15 years of building community, sharing countless cups of tea, and helping members find their collective power, the charity is beginning its transition toward a new, member-led future.

The day was a beautiful reflection marking the end of WEvolution as a charity, but the beginning of something new. While the physical doors may be closing this month, the spirit of the movement is moving directly into the hands of the community via their new online platform. It was a privilege to provide the space for such an honest, heartfelt, and hopeful handover.
