Agile City Newsletter – October/November
Hello Agile City Community!
As we head away from autumn and into winter, we’ve been as busy as ever on the Agile City Campus. From yard sales featuring repair cafés to immersive exhibitions and community gatherings, October was packed with vibrant creative energy and familiar faces.
Looking ahead to November, we’re keeping that warmth going with a full calendar of events and cozy, heated spaces to work. If your home workspace is feeling a bit chilly as the temperature drops, our coworking desks have plenty of room for you – we look forward to seeing you around campus soon!
Upcoming Events at Agile City:

Architecture Fringe: We Have No Plan B*
Thursday 12th November, 6pm – 9pm
Civic House, 26 Civic Street, Glasgow, G4 9RH
Convened by Architecture Fringe and Contested Space and hosted by Joshua Richards (Forensic Architecture), Lizzie Malcolm (Rectangle), and Alissar Riachi (Contested Space), Architectures of Evidence explores how spatial design can bear witness to injustice, document evidence, and resist erasure. Through cross-disciplinary dialogue, the event examines community-led repair and reconstruction following international and settler-colonial violence, creating a forum for shared learning and future action.
These events also operate as solidarity fundraisers, supporting the work of the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund, providing medical assistance to the children of Gaza and Lebanon.
The events are free to attend with the option to make a donation when booking.

Glasgow Tool Library: Yard Sale + Repair Cafe
Glasgow Tool Library (GTL) is a community charity that helps people reduce household clutter and landfill waste by offering a library of tools to borrow and rehoming donated equipment. To clear out years of surplus donations and raise essential funds for our everyday operating costs, GTL held a Yard Sale at Civic House, giving visitors the chance to pick up bargain tools, materials, and hardware.
Timed alongside International Repair Day, the event also celebrated the value of maintenance and practical skills. Alongside their on-site tool-sharpening service, they collaborated with Repair Cafe Glasgow to fix household items, Tranquility Cycles for free bike checkups, Boomerang Woodwork for live power tool demos, and Loco Home to chat through home retrofitting.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to find a bargain and help support GTL!

NOCTURN’s Good Enough: Artist Talk & Discussion
Good Enough is an immersive storybox about the hidden self – inside, a life, and the self that lived alongside it, unseen for years. NOCTURN opened the doors to one-to-one tester spots in Argyll and Glasgow.
Evolving around an AR-enabled storybox with tactile objects, haptic vest & bone-conducting audio, ‘Good Enough’ lets you connect with queer stories through a uniquely intimate, multisensory experience.
Throughout the day, members of the public were invited to Civic House to experience the storybox one at a time. At night, an artist discussion which went through the entire experience in detail.
If you’d like to find out more about NOCTURN and how to support them, please visit their website or social media.
Agile City Members Social
For our October member social, we hosted a murder mystery inspired by the classic board game, Cluedo!
The ‘Civic and Glue-Do Mystery’ saw our members team up to investigate the disappearance of an Agile City (AC) team member. With the rest of the AC crew as prime suspects, our members pieced together the clues and cracked the case.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, we can’t wait to see you at the next one.
If you’d like to take part and become a community member at Civic House or Glue Factory, please get in touch!
