Agile City Member Spotlight – Isis O’Regan from The Sugar Factory
We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Isis from The Sugar Factory, one of Civic House’s hot-desking members. In this feature, Isis shares insights into their daily creative process, the exciting projects keeping The Sugar Factory busy this season, and their experience being an integral part of our coworking community!
Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m Isis O’Regan, and I run The Sugar Factory, a communication and strategy agency working with cultural institutions, record labels, film festivals, fairs, brands, start-ups, and independent artists. Our clients include the Tate Modern, Warp Records, Somerset House Studios and an art discovery app, gowithYamo.
How long have you been a tenant at Civic House & what attracted you to the building?
Since November, when I relocated to Scotland. I had visited a few other office spaces, and Civic House was the most welcoming and the most beautiful. Frequently on video calls, I get asked if the space is a fake background! My colleague Lily was already based here, so it was a no-brainer.
Give a brief description of The Sugar Factory PR, and why you decided to start The Sugar Factory PR (please list your team members and their positions as well)!
We run campaigns for a wide variety of clients mainly within the creative sectors, and our role is essentially to be the guardian or amplifier of artistic expression. We offer traditional media campaigns across digital, print, broadcast and social media. As well as other essential parts of publicity such as crisis communications, partnerships, strategic consultancy, ambassador and influencer collaborations, plus content creation for social media and editorial direction. Another big part of our job is helping clients find their voice and connect with the right audiences, guiding and developing key messaging and their visual identity.
I run TSF with Lily Stones, who is a film and art specialist, they head up accounts with major institutions and film festivals. As well as Jo Cheney, our Amsterdam branch at TSF, who looks after our technology and art projects. Both are very savvy and make work a lot of fun.
If you could manifest a dream project, what would it look like?
We’re very keen to work with more Scottish-based institutions and businesses!
Do you have any upcoming projects you want to highlight? How can we get involved?
Upcoming, we have Somerset House Studio’s 10-year celebratory landmark event, 3 Evenings during Freize week; a gorgeous new record by Emily A. Sprague incoming on RVNG. Intl, Abandon Normal Devices Festival in Barnsley and the Scottish Queer International Film Festival. Also a few projects we can’t yet announce…!
