Event in Focus: Glasgow Short Film Festival 2026
For its 19th edition, the Glasgow Short Film Festival (GSFF), the largest competitive short film festival in Scotland, chose Civic House as one of its three official homes for the week.
The other venues for the festival included Glasgow Film Theatre and the Grosvenor Picture Theatre. Together, across these three distinct venues, the festival brought a wave of creative energy to Glasgow that is still echoing through our space. GSFF is dedicated to showcasing ground-breaking works, championing diverse voices, and creating a welcoming space for dialogue, critique, and inspiration.
Here at Civic House, we felt that community spirit in full force.

There were 3 awards given away: Young Scottish Filmmaker Prize, Bill Douglas Award for International Short Film, and Scottish Short Film Award. A massive congratulations to the winners, and to everyone who submitted their films.

A massive thank you to the brilliant organisers at GSFF for bringing this world-class event to our doors! We also want to extend our gratitude to the filmmakers who shared their art, the incredible volunteers who kept everything running smoothly, and, of course, everyone who bought a ticket, took a seat, and joined us in watching some great short films.
The 2026 Glasgow Short Film Festival was a testament to the thriving, vibrant film culture right here in Scotland. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
