Civic House and Glue Factory served as the host venues for Split Screen from January to February. This was a pioneering project exploring the intersection of performing arts, digital innovation, and AI. This initiative transforms our space into a dynamic testbed for creative experimentation.

The project brings together a powerhouse collective for a series of workshops designed to spark radical new collaborations. By bridging the gap between artists, tech experts, and creative entrepreneurs, Split Screen aims to redefine how performance is conceived and shared in the digital age.

The event was structured as 3 days of training, followed by 2 days of ‘sprint’ – participants first looked at cutting-edge uses of technology in the performing arts, gaining hands-on technical skills with guidance with experts, and learned practical frameworks for embedding innovation into their core practice. Then, during the 2-day sprint, participants worked in teams to apply what they’ve learned, designing and producing a short piece or prototype with mentorship and technical support from the Split Screen team.

Overall, this event was about bringing together some of Scotland’s most talented artists, creative organisations, and digital experts to explore how technology can open up fresh ways of making and sharing performance.

We had a blast hosting this event for the past 2 months, and cannot wait to see what comes from such a unique project!
