Civic House has been a consistent and valued venue partner over multiple editions of the Glasgow Short Film Festival, working alongside other key city spaces to help deliver the festival’s wide-ranging programme. More than just a screening location, Civic House has regularly functioned as a festival hub – hosting screenings, panel discussions, talks, workshops, receptions and informal social events that support both audiences and industry delegates.

We are proud to assist the GSFF in extending its reach beyond traditional cinema settings, offering a space for conversation, collaboration and community-building (post- screening of course!). Each year, the venue is carefully installed to suit the programme – from cinema-style screenings with raised seating and dedicated sound, to panel talks and discussions, as well as conference-style workshops with breakout rooms – allowing different strands of the festival to land with warmth, and with purpose. Festival organisers and attendees alike have complemented Civic House’s hospitality and technical support; this is something we pride ourselves on and is greatly appreciated.

We were delighted to return for the 18th edition of the festival in March 2025; it was ever successful and ever a joy. Highlights included the Little Pictures Showcase, presenting micro-budget shorts from upcoming filmmakers, alongside Frank Sweeney’s workshop on cross-border analogue TV culture and a roundtable on Palestine on Film. Together with headline events elsewhere in the festival – such as The Disco: A Portrait of Simon Eilbeck – these moments underscored Civic House’s ongoing contribution to the depth, accessibility and community spirit of Glasgow Short Film Festival – Long may it continue.
