Artist Kialy Tihngang leads a free speculative scriptwriting workshop for artists based in Scotland (not in education). Inspired by her film Neyinka and the Silver Gong (created with Josie KO for fir gorma at Glasgow International 2024), the session explores how national identity is constructed, mythologised, and simplified — much like the dramatic storytelling of movie trailers.

Through discussion, artistic research, and creative exercises, participants will examine how speculative fiction can reframe erased or silenced histories and challenge dominant national myths. Kialy will guide attendees in crafting their own “trailers” for alternate histories, using the language of film marketing to expose how selective storytelling shapes cultural identity.
