Public Diners: Pop Up Supper
We have public transport, public hospitals, public libraries, even public wifi.
Why not public diners?
What are public diners? Public diners are state supported, affordable restaurants serving quality food to the general public. They operated under the banner of ‘British Restaurants’ in the 1940s and 50s. They also exist in different forms across the world today: Polish milk bars, Singapore Hawker Centres. Read more about public diners here.
Nourish Scotland are taking the movement for public diners across the country with a series of pop up suppers. You are invited to the first supper in Glasgow! Join the public diner conversation and test a public diner dinner.
What’s on the menu? What are the prices like? Canteen style? Table service?
It will be part public diner simulation; part movement building conversations – all of it will be centered on good food in good company.
