Ceòl is Craic

This concert explores musical storytelling through Gaelic song and contemporary program music, featuring ten new works from Màiri Callan’s project Slighe Fonn na Bardachd: Bho Bhalbhachd nan Duilleag gu Binn-ghuthan an t-Sluaigh / The Musical Journey of Verse, alongside pieces by Savourna Stevenson and Miles Norris.

Inspired by Gaelic poetry’s sung origins, Màiri composed melodies for ten historical texts, giving voice to bards whose songs were lost to time. Blending traditional, classical, and contemporary techniques, her work celebrates the expressive power of music and verse.

Performers include Màiri Callan, Ruairidh Gray, Alice Macmillan, Miles Norris, and Fionnlagh Mac a’ Phiocair.
