We had such an amazing time at February’s Coorie Doon party – featuring food by our very own Parveen’s Canteen. This was the first birthday celebration of Coorie Doon at Civic House and it did not disappoint! Check out some of the beautiful photos taken on the night by Tiu Makkonen.

Coorie Doon is a hi-fi dance party with a varied and global music policy, inspired by David Mancuso’s Loft party tradition and the unique dancing spirit of Glasgow.

Three people sit on a couch eating from large orange bowls, they are smiling and chatting to each other. A multicoloured light is thrown across them and on the wall behind them which looks like rays. There are large green ferns to the right and left of the couch. In the forground a person kneels and is looking away from the camera.

Coorie Doon is built on the uplifting power of music and the collective joy of the dancefloor. Their main priority is to play uplifting music that gives energy and brings people together in both a welcoming and intense celebration. Rhythmic, hypnotic and psychedelic sounds are all essentials whether that’s deep spiritual jazz, ecstatic Gospel, house, disco, reggae, cumbia, psychedelic soul, afrobeat…

If you want to check out the type of music you can listen back to recordings over on our Mixcloud.
