Clarry M presents ‘Daily Record’ live on air
Radiophrenia
From 7th to 20th April 2025, Agile City welcomed Radiophrenia, a two-week festival of experimental radio and sound art, broadcast from Civic House. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, the programme featured newly commissioned works, live-to-air performances, and pre-recorded shows, spanning experimental music, field recordings, drama, poetry and sonic artworks. Curated in part by guest Riah Naief of Listen Gallery, the schedule brought together a rich mix of submissions from an international open call alongside community collaborations and public engagement projects.
It was an absolute pleasure to house, and we’re already missing tuning in from the office. Congratulations to Mark, Stevie, Timothea and the whole team on such a successful broadcast.

Design HOPES
The Design HOPES SHIFT Symposium took place on 22nd April at Civic House, and drew together an international gathering of designers and researchers working at the intersection of health, care and climate. Throughout a day of talks, presentations and workshop, participants were able to share their projects and insights around the topics of design and healthcare in the context of the climate emergency, building networks and understanding around key topics such as waste, energy use, and circular approaches to materials.
The day culminated with a fascinating keynote presentation from Ivor Williams, reflecting on his work in design and palliative care, and how this might inform design in the context of care for people and planet.
Design HOPES is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, as part of the Future Observatory GTE Hub Programme, supporting a green and just transition for NHS Scotland.

Agile City Studio Social
Last month saw the first iteration of our new Studio Social evening – an opportunity for studio holders from Glue Factory and coworkers from Civic House to connect, sharing ideas and updating one another on what they’ve been working on lately. Three of our Company Base members, Jonny Casey from Verture, Rosemary James-Beith from Creative Glasgow and Abigale Neate Wilson of Agile City gave brilliant presentations relating to the theme ‘Who are You?’, all fuelled by a section of favours provided by Parveen’s.
It was lovely to meet more casually, bringing together members campus-wide for an opportunity to touch base after a hectic start to the year. Roll on the next!
News & Updates:
Too Happy Artist Commission
After a successful pilot commission, the Too Happy Artist Commission is back for another year! The commission is a partnership between Too Happy Studios, an artist-led studio based at The Glue Factory, award-winning production company Forest of Black, and the internationally renowned Glasgow Short Film Festival, where the artist’s finished film will premiere next year. The programme is supported by Film & Video Umbrella and funded by Creative Scotland’s Open Fund. The commission is for an early career Scotland-based artist to make a 10-15 minute single-screen film. The artist will receive a fee of £8,150 and the film will have a production budget of £12,000. Too Happy Studios are offering studio space, equipment and mentorship from their extended studio team and network of creative practitioners. This is an amazing opportunity for a moving image artist to create an ambitious film and potential step change in their practice and career.
Full details can be found at www.toohappystudios.com/commission.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday 6th of May at 12 noon.
