Events Recap:
Solar Reels
Last month, we were proud to host Solar Reels — the UK’s only deaf-led film school — as they brought their production days to life at Civic House. Produced by Solar Bear and led by professional filmmakers Will Clark and Teresa Garratty, the project saw emerging deaf filmmakers take their original short film ideas from concept to screen.
Following an intensive development week at Impact Arts, the students arrived at Civic House for three days of hands-on filmmaking, working alongside a professional crew to shoot and produce their films throughout the building.
Solar Reels is more than just a filmmaking course. It’s part of a wider movement to reshape the industry into one that is truly accessible and representative.

Hot Tottie Saunas x Civic House
Throughout August, we had the pleasure of hosting the Hot Tottie Saunas pop-up here at Civic House – and what a treat it was. Running for the month, the team brought a splash of calm to the city, installing one of their innovative portable saunas on our yard.
The pop up was enjoyed by the public and by Agile City members alike, who made the most of the chance to unwind after (and sometimes during!) the working day. The sessions offered up a perfect way to pause in the ever-hectic summer thrawl.
Big thanks to the Hot Tottie crew, currently based out of Luss and Rowardennan, for bringing their set-up to Glasgow. It was a joy to collaborate – and we’re looking forward to seeing where they pop up next.
News & Updates:
Fika at Agile City
Fika is the simple act of pausing for coffee, cake and conversation. It has deep roots in the swedish tradition, and has been adopted and enjoyed by Agile City members and staff for several years now.
We’ve embraced Fika as a monthly opportunity to down tools and catch-up with those around us. As a coworking space made up mostly of freelancers and small teams, it’s a simple but meaningful way to bring everyone together and feel part of something bigger — a wider community that supports, shares, and grows together. It’s not about networking or formal meetings — it’s about slowing down and sharing space.
In a busy working environment, Fika reminds us of the value of community, conversation, and taking time together.
In search of a change of pace in your work routine? Civic House Studio can give you that kick-start!
Our coworking space is growing, with a welcomed mix of freelancers, creatives, and remote workers working across design, social enterprise and sustainability practices.
We offer both Fixed Desk and Hot Desking options — flexible, affordable solutions perfect for those embracing hybrid working.
